　　球场中间的一条与端线平行的线为中线。它将足球场地平均分为前、后两个半场。本队防守球门所在的半场称为本方半场，也叫“后场”。本方的后场就是对方的前场，对方的前场也就是本方的后场。

　　中线的作用是：一、在中圈开球时，双方队员在开球前必须站在本方半场内，不得超过中线。二、在本方半场内，就不存在“越位”犯规。但当进攻队员只要有一脚全部越过了中线，就算该队员进入了前场，也就有越位的限制了。
